British Carriers

Tonight I finished seven British aircraft carriers: 3 Illustrious class, Ark Royal, and 3 lend lease escorts.

Next will be either British light cruisers or destroyers.

  1. Lovely work Vol. Nice touch by leaving two of the escort carriers with the US Navy blue decks. Where did you get the aircraft from? Did you also print them? Well done on a find victory at Lake Trasimene as well. That looked like a very close and exciting game.

    1. Hi Lawrence, and thanks. Apparently the British retained the US blue for several of the Bogue class escort carriers that were given and loaned out during the war. Eventually they were all repainted.
Yes, the planes are printed as well.
And yes, that was a very close game. The points were neck and neck through all six turns. Super fun game!

  2. The rate at which you turn out fleets is mind boggling. Having seen some of these ships up close, your craftsmanship is amazing.

    1. Thanks Iain, on both counts.
Aren't the Ark Royal and the Illustrious classes fleet carriers?

    2. Sorry Vol, I meant light fleet carriers, just my dad served on one, HMS Venerable in the Pacific in ww2!
