Shadar Logoth Booknook from Wheel of Time

In my last post I started this booknook of Shadar Logoth, the cursed and closed city featured in the first book and season of The Wheel of Time. The book is entitled "The Eye of the World" by Robert Jordan. The video series is on Prime, and the heroes enter Shadar Logoth in episode 2 of season 1. I generally like to do full build posts. Since I have already included the early stages in my previous post, I will start with the finished work, and then include the steps where I broke off in the previous post.

Now, this is where I left off in the last post where I had just finished and mounted the six characters with their horses.

Carving the facia moulding using a template I found on the internet.

The front is attached to the slide-in nook itself. when fully inserted, it closes the case.

The case, 5/8" plywood bottom and heavy condensed 1/4" paperboard sides, back, and top.

Painted with a textured stone spray paint. The picture is glued on and decoupaged with gloss ModPodge

Here are some screen shots from the show of the city and characters:

Christmas? In October?

Well, it's that time of year again when I start thinking about what presents to make for my girls.

I had been working on ships again when a pancreatitis attack put me in the hospital for 9 days in the middle of August. The recovery from that took a month. From that experience, and not wanting to repeat it, I agreed to have my gallbladder removed. The surgery was last Friday and I am recovering again!

Anyway, since I'm stuck inside on light duty again, I decided to switch gears from ships to booknook gifts. The first one is for my oldest daughter. She is a Robert Jordan "Wheel of Time" book fan, and likes the Prime series as well. So I am attempting to create a booknook of the dead city Shadar Logoth from the first season. I have built the walls so far.

There is a lot more to do. There is scatter terrain that must be added like fallen stone blocks, rubble, dirt, wagon wheel(s). I will need to construct and decorate the case. Also the forest scene beyond the tear in the rear wall, the lighting, battery bank and switch.

Update: I added the 6 characters from the series season 1, episode 2 that showed Shadar Logoth.

When this one is done, the younger daughter gets a Pennywise booknook!
